Nobody remembers a good transfer, and everybody remembers a bad one. The queue at the rank, the car with no room for the pushchair, the driver who has not heard of your villa, the return pickup that never came. It is the least glamorous thing on this site and one of the most requested, precisely because it brackets everything else.
Send your flight numbers, your destination address, how many of you there are and how much luggage you are really travelling with. We check directly with licensed local companies on those routes and come back with a fixed price, a vehicle that fits, and the practical detail — where you will be met, what happens if you are late, who to call.
Why this is a regulated business, and why that matters
Pre-booked private hire in the countries we work in is a licensed activity with its own registration regime, and the difference between a properly licensed company and an informal arrangement shows up exactly when something goes wrong. We arrange transfers with companies that hold the licence their market requires. We do not own vehicles and we do not drive; we plan the journey and confirm it directly with the company that will.
Child seats, luggage and the things people forget
The requests that most often go wrong are the ones made too late. Infant and child seats are widely available and frequently free, but they need to be requested with the child’s age so the right seat is in the car. Golf clubs, skis, pushchairs, a cello — all fine, all worth mentioning, all capable of turning a booked saloon into the wrong vehicle. In several of our destinations the local road law on child restraints is stricter than visitors expect, which is another good reason to settle it in advance.
When we will tell you not to book one
There are routes in our destinations where the train is faster, more pleasant and much cheaper, and airports where the walk to a rank is genuinely fine. If your route is one of those, we will say so. The point of arranging a transfer is that it removes a real problem — a late arrival, a remote villa, three generations and a fortnight of luggage, a mountain road you would rather not drive after a dawn flight. Where the problem does not exist, we would rather send you to the timetable and keep your trust for the parts of the trip where we help.
