Algarve boat charters, tours and villa services

The lagoon islands of the east, the cliff coast of the west, and the people who know both — one message plans the whole stay.

Two coasts, and they are not interchangeable

The Algarve is really two regions wearing one name. East of Faro the Ria Formosa spreads into sandbar islands, oyster beds and shallow channels that stay calm on days when the open sea is unusable — boats leave from Faro marina and from the lagoon quays at Olhão, Fuseta, Santa Luzia, Tavira and Cabanas de Tavira. West of Albufeira the coastline turns theatrical: ochre cliffs, sea arches and the cave-riddled stretch around Benagil, worked from the marinas of Vilamoura, Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos.

That geography is the single most useful thing to understand before booking anything here. The lagoon is sheltered and forgiving; the cliff coast answers to Atlantic swell. A family with small children and a low tolerance for chop belongs east. A group that came for the grottoes belongs west, on an early departure, on a day the forecast earns.

What things honestly cost

Nothing on this site is priced by us — we send the rate the local business charges, for your dates, with what it includes spelled out. As planning anchors: shared cave and coast tours on the western stretch generally sit somewhere around €19 to €45 per person, private charters in the lagoon start near €135 to €180 for the boat, and private yachts out of Vilamoura range from roughly €900 to €3,500 depending on size and how long you have her. Private chefs are quoted per menu and party size rather than published, and airport cars are priced per vehicle rather than per seat.

Benagil, described accurately

The famous cave is still worth the morning, and the copy written about it mostly is not. Binding navigation rules from the port captaincy — in force since August 2024 and amended in 2025 — ban swimming or floating in, ban stepping onto the cave beach, and admit only licensed vessels for a short window inside. What you get is a few minutes under that skylight from the water, and a coastline either side of it that is arguably better. Anyone still selling you a walk on that sand is describing a beach you are not allowed to stand on.

Villas, chefs, wine and the drive in

Around Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura, villa life is its own economy: a chef for the birthday dinner, the fridge filled before you land, a driver who knows which gate the estate opens. Inland, behind the coast, the small wine estates around Lagoa, Silves and the Odelouca valley pour bottles that rarely leave the region — and almost all of them require booking ahead, with walk-ins routinely turned away. From Faro Airport, the resort runs are short and the western drive is long, which is worth knowing before you decide whether to hire a car at all.

Who actually runs your day

We do not own boats, cars or kitchens. Maritime tourism in Portugal is regulated: boat operators register with Turismo de Portugal under the RNAAT scheme, and dolphin-watching additionally requires a cetacean-observation permit. Transfer companies hold RNAVT registration. We only arrange days with businesses that hold the right paperwork, we confirm the details directly with them, and the decision to sail — or not — is theirs.

When to come

Peak season runs May to October, and the shoulder weeks either side are the ones locals guard. The lagoon has a second season most visitors never hear about: its birdlife is richest from October to March, with migration either side. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure is the normal standard for boat days here — we will always tell you what your specific booking’s terms are before you commit.
