A short run to the island’s most sheltered bay
Cala Galdana is about 35 km from the airport, normally 30 to 40 minutes on the Me-1 and down through Ferreries. The final descent through pine woods to the bay is the slowest and best part of it.
This is the busiest of the island’s transfer searches, and the pattern behind it is obvious once you look: taxi, taxi cost, bus, transfer time and shuttle, with resort hotel names searched alongside. These are package-holiday arrivals with cases and children, landing at a resort where the walk from the bus stop is the last thing anybody wants.
Taxi or booked car
The official island tariff is published for this route: about €49 by day and €59 at night, plus an airport surcharge of about €3 and roughly €0.60 per item of luggage. A booked private transfer for a group of six is listed from about €86 — which is why, past two people and a suitcase each, the booked car tends to win.
The hard constraint is capacity. Menorca taxis may not legally carry more than 4 passengers, and any child counts as one of them, while booked fleets run from cars up to coaches of 59 seats. A family of five has no taxi option here at all.
Child seats
Island taxis do not carry child seats and expect parents to bring and fit their own, while booked private transfer companies do advertise them; Spanish law requires restraints for younger children. Enough arrivals search for car seats by name that it is clearly a recurring problem. Ages and weights with the request, and the seats are in the vehicle before you land.
Who drives
Booked private transfers run under VTC private-hire licences; island taxis are municipally licensed with the four-passenger cap. We arrange and confirm with a licensed local company, track the inbound flight so a delay is not your problem, and stay reachable if plans change. The vehicle, driver and insurance are theirs, not ours.
Cancellation terms are not published by the island’s transfer companies — the work is quote-based — so we get yours in writing rather than quoting a policy.
What Cala Galdana is good for
The bay is a base for the south-coast beaches: llaüt trips leave from the beach itself, with the meeting point at the taxi rank next to the bar fifteen minutes early. Those run as a 3.5-hour trip or a 7-hour full day, reaching Macarella, Turqueta and the calas that are hard work by road.
