The town the chefs actually live near
Ostuni is the white town on the hill above the olive plain, and it is where this category is genuinely well supplied. The independent private chefs verified in Puglia work out of Ostuni and the Valle d’Itria, cooking in villas and masserie across the surrounding towns. If you have rented a masseria within half an hour of here, you are in the easiest part of the region to get a good cook to your table on a summer Saturday.
They do not all sell the same thing. Between them the bench covers villa dinners, catering for small events, masterclasses, chef-at-home at holiday accommodation, and orecchiette sessions with oil, wine and cheese tastings attached — so if your group would rather learn to make the pasta at five and be served at eight, that is one booking, not two arrangements with strangers.
What ends up on the table
The regional repertoire, if you ask for it: orecchiette, focaccia barese, panzerotti, taralli, and the vegetables that Puglia does better than anywhere. Wine from the valley behind the town means Minutolo, Verdeca and Bianco d’Alessano among the whites, Primitivo and Susumaniello among the reds — most of which never leaves the region. And the oil: Ostuni’s estates run working underground mills under groves of millenary trees, with tastings led by an oil sommelière at one of them. A chef here knows whose oil to finish a dish with.
Pricing, honestly
There is no rate card in this market. None of the chefs verified in Puglia publish rates: every dinner is quoted per menu and per party, and there is no credible published range we would put on a page. What drives the quote is the menu and its ingredients, how many are sitting down, how long the chef is with you, whether you need someone serving as well as cooking, and the travel to your address. Being near Ostuni usually helps the last of those.
What we do, and what we do not
The chef is an independent professional who sets their own price and answers for the food. We take your details to chefs who are genuinely free on the date, confirm the menu and the timings directly with them, and stay reachable if plans move. We do not run a kitchen. Nothing is booked until you confirm.
Chefs work year-round here, unlike the boats, though the peak months fill first.
The rest of the week around Ostuni
Ostuni is the best base for the land side of Puglia: the olive-oil tour nearby, the Valle d’Itria wine tour, and the Alberobello, Locorotondo and Ostuni tour. Arrivals run through Brindisi Airport or Bari Airport. Everything sits on the Puglia page; villa dining elsewhere on private chefs.
