The evening that belongs after a boat day

A Menorca week has a rhythm: a beach in the morning, a boat one or two days, and a long slow evening at the villa. The night that fails is the one where everybody showers, gets back in the car and drives half an hour to a booked table nobody chose. A chef at your address fixes that — you come back salted and tired and dinner is already happening on the terrace.

It works equally well on the arrival night, when the fridge is empty and the supermarket has closed, and for the one occasion in the week that deserves a proper table: a birthday, an anniversary, the evening the whole family is finally in one place.

What it costs, honestly

There is no rate card for private chefs in Menorca, because no chef on the island publishes one — every quote is built per menu and per party size. We would rather explain how the number is reached than fabricate one.

A quote reflects the menu and its ingredients, how many are sitting down, how long the chef is with you, whether the evening needs serving staff as well as a cook, and travel to your address. Island geography matters more here than on the mainland: a villa on a track outside Es Mercadal is a different journey from an apartment in Mahón, and honest chefs price that rather than absorb it.

Who cooks, and where they will travel

Menorca villa-chef service is covered island-wide: an island-based private chef cooking villa dinners, events and weekly family service with local seasonal sourcing, a chef-placement business covering the coast from Ciutadella round to Punta Prima including Cala Galdana and Mahón, and the international chef marketplaces on top. In practice that means most addresses on the island can be served, and the question is which chef is genuinely free on your date rather than whether anyone is.

Details worth sending with your dates

The kitchen you actually have — oven, hob, outdoor grill, how many the table seats — plus the number eating, the time you want to sit down, allergies and the strong dislikes, and whether this is a celebration or a quiet night in. Menorcan villas vary enormously in what their kitchens can do, and a chef told the truth in advance plans a menu that works instead of one that has to be rescued at seven o’clock.

If you want the island on the plate, ask for it: Mahón-Menorca cheese carries a protected designation of origin recognised in 1985 and governed by its own Consejo Regulador, and a cheese course is an easy, genuinely local addition.

What we do, and what we do not

The chef is an independent local professional who prices their own work and answers for the food. Our part is the arranging: we take your details to chefs who are actually free on the date, confirm the menu and timings directly with them, and stay reachable if the plan moves. We do not run a kitchen, and nothing is booked until you say yes.

Plan it with the rest of the week — a llaüt charter the same day, a cheese and wine tasting the afternoon before, or the whole island on the Menorca overview. Villa dining in our other regions sits on the private chefs page. Request availability with your dates, your address and how many are eating.

Good to know

What does a private chef in Menorca cost?
Nobody on this island publishes a rate, and we would rather explain that than invent a per-head number. Every chef here quotes per menu and party size, so we get you a real itemised quote for your date — the menu, the hours, whether service staff are needed, and travel to your address.
Which part of the island do chefs cover?
Effectively all of it. The chefs and placement businesses working here cover the coast from Ciutadella round to Punta Prima, taking in Cala Galdana and Mahón, so where you are staying rarely rules it out. Remote farmhouse addresses are worth flagging early because travel is part of the quote.
Can they cook for a whole week rather than one night?
Yes — weekly family service is a normal arrangement here, not an unusual request. Several groups book one showpiece dinner plus two or three simpler evenings, which is usually the better shape and often the better value.
Will they use Menorcan produce?
That is the reason to book one. Island sourcing is what the local chefs sell — the DOP cheese, the fish landed that morning, the vegetables from the interior. If you want a specific catch or a Mahón-cheese course, say so when you ask and it can be planned in.
How far ahead should we ask?
For July and August, as far ahead as you can manage — the island has a small number of good chefs and a short season. Shoulder months are much easier and flexible dates always come back with more options.
