Matching the person, not just the hour
A ski week turns on who is standing in front of your group at the top of the first run. A nervous adult starting late needs a completely different temperament from a teenager who wants to go fast, and a family with two very different abilities needs someone who can hold both without anyone feeling managed. Ski schools know this; the problem is that by the time most visitors book, the instructors who are good at it are already taken.
So we ask early and we ask specifics: ages, real ability rather than polite ability, what went wrong last time, whether the point of the week is technique or mileage. Then we check availability directly with local schools, registered instructors and certified mountain guides, and come back with options that name who you would actually be skiing with.
The professions are regulated, and we respect the line
In the alpine countries we cover, teaching skiing and guiding in the mountains are separate regulated professions with separate registers. Instructors qualify through a national and regional framework and are enrolled in a professional college; mountain guides hold the higher alpine qualification, with recognised international equivalence, and are the only professionals permitted to take clients into terrain requiring alpine judgement.
We plan your days and confirm them directly with those professionals. We do not teach, we do not guide, and we do not put anyone on snow who is not entitled to be leading you.
Honest about the season and the snow
Alpine seasons are long but not uniform. Early-season weeks can be superb or can be a handful of runs on manufactured snow. Late season brings soft afternoons, cheaper weeks and real variability. Storm days close lifts and turn a planned high-altitude circuit into a low-mountain morning. Where a week looks marginal on the forecast or the snow report, we say so and offer alternatives — including the lower-elevation, weather-proof version of the day.
Children’s lessons in most of our destinations start young, helmet rules for minors are strict in several countries, and slope-liability insurance is increasingly mandatory rather than optional. We put those requirements in front of you before you arrive rather than at the ticket window.
