A small-boat shore
Bardolino is a wine town that happens to sit on the water, and the boating here reflects that: less grand charter, more small boats taken out for a few hours between a swim and a tasting. Departures are from Lungolago Cipriani and Punta Cornicello, both a short walk from the middle of town.
Two local companies cover it. One works from Lungolago Cipriani and also from Castelletto di Brenzone further north, running rental with or without a skipper and sailing through a partner; the other is at Punta Cornicello with the licence-free fleet.
Self-drive, and what it costs
This is the easiest shore on the lake to take a wheel of your own. Boats under 40 hp can be driven on ID alone, and the rental fleet is built to that limit; those boats seat 5 to 7 people. Rental runs 100 to 330 EUR per hour including fuel with a 250 EUR deposit, and day rates across the lake cluster at 130 to 280 EUR.
The rules that come with the wheel are simple and worth knowing before you cast off: motorboats stay at least 300 m from shore, with a 20-knot limit by day, 5 knots at night and 3 knots inside ports. If you would rather someone else watched all that, a skippered trip is quoted per boat and per date, and commercial skippers here are professional captains.
Where the boat can take you
Bardolino is one of the eight embarkation ports for Isola del Garda, with crossings of 10 to 60 minutes depending on the port — remembering that island visits must be booked online at least the day before, never by phone. Southwards it is an easy run towards Sirmione and Peschiera; northwards the shore stiffens up towards Malcesine and the narrows.
Season and weather
The rental season is stated exactly: 1 April to 31 October, 09:00 to 19:00 daily, inside the lake’s April to October window. You are in the calmer southern half here, though the wind still turns twice a day and afternoon storms happen. Weather calls belong to the skipper or the rental base; the lake norm is free cancellation 24 to 48 hours ahead with a refund or reschedule.
